Economad and their enhanced biodigestor system April 24, 2024 – Posted in: R&D

Ilan Adler, Director of Economad, has selected Ahimsa as a Partner to conduct a study of the viability of a unique, small-scale, modular on-farm anaerobic digestion (AD) system solution where excrement / dung from our cows can be utilised to produce biogas which in turn can be utilised directly for heating water on our farm operations or producing energy which can run a generator. From testing a smaller version over the last eighteen months, they will now install two larger biodigestors to increase biogas / energy production. This will enable Ahimsa to carry out further trials to diminish energy from the grid and become more self-sustaining.

The biogas can be used in a number of different ways, including using it directly for cooking (photo below), or powering our present pasteuriser, and even trial a new 150 litre biogas run pasteuriser.
